Swiss Wine - Who are we ?
Swiss Wine Promotion (SWP) is responsible for promoting the image of Swiss wine in Switzerland and abroad. Its mandate is to help position Swiss wine as a product with high added value and to work with the viticulture and wine producing industry as a whole to increase the value of their products. Swiss Wine Promotion’s mandate comes from the Interprofession de la Vigne et du Vin Suisse (IVVS), to develop and implement its marketing, communication, media and image strategy.
The main communication channels of SWP are aimed at: the end consumer, fine cuisine industry, major retailers, large companies and Swiss organizations as well as wine tourism. All of the activities undertaken by SWP must be in line with the “Quality” strategy developed by the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG).
The SWP board is composed of representatives of the six wine regions (Geneva, Vaud, Valais, Neuchatel-Three Lakes, German-speaking Switzerland and Ticino), a member of the IVVS, and of the wine producers and wine exporters groups, the Fédération Suisse des Vignerons (FSV) and the SWEA (Swiss Wine Exporters Association). The organization’s strategy is drawn up by SWP’s administration and approved by the board.
Swiss Wine Promotion is the only association representing the vine and wine industry that is permitted to submit co-financing projects to the FOAG. All co-financed projects are obliged to be national in scale and character and they must meet the criteria for selection that is defined by FOAG’s committee.
